Baby Development
We have produced this development guide to give you an idea of how your baby is developing during your pregnancy.
The First Six Weeks
Just after the first six weeks growth your baby will be about the size of a peanut, you will be able to see the area where the baby's nostrils will be. The baby's heart will be beating and will be able to be picked up by the ultra sound scan. The baby's eyelids will be shut whilst the eyes develop underneath.
The First 12 Weeks
This will be about the time that you have you first scan, also a time when the scan will reveal your date for delivery. The baby's weight will be about 15g or so and the baby's head will be appear disproportionate to the body. During the scan you should be able to see the baby's hands and feet.
The First 18 Weeks
Your baby will now be about 12cm in length and weigh about 190g. You are now also in your second trimester. The sex of you baby should also be able to be determined from now.
The First 24 Weeks

30 Weeks
From now on you baby will gain weight rapidly, your baby will be using its lungs, not to breath air but to practise using amniotic fluid. you baby may also get hiccups during this period. Your baby will weight about 1.2kg at this point and will measure 40cm long.
