Once your baby is mobile you will need to think about the safety of your house. Even if they are just rolling they will be able to roll into the fire, or touch the plug sockets, so what can you do to ensure the safety of your baby?
There are a large variety of Baby Safety Products on the market, but which ones do you really need? The most essential item is a fire guard. Whatever type of fire you have, it will still get very warm on the outside. If you baby touches it they will get a very nasty burn. So what you need to do is buy a fire guard. It needs to be a guard that can be secured to the wall so that if they pull it or use it to pull themselves up, it won't move out of position and reveal the hot fire.
You will need to make sure that your baby can't get up the stairs, or into any rooms that are particularly dangerous, like the kitchen. You may think that you can just shut the door to keep the baby or toddler in the room that you want them to be in. If you shut them in a room then need to get back into it, you could cause them a nasty injury if they have moved and are now behind the door. So it is far better to use a stair gate on the doorway. Obviously Baby Safety Gates are designed to stop your baby falling down the stairs from upstairs, but also they can be put at the bottom to stop them climbing up stairs too.
When you put your baby up to bed, you may wonder how you might hear them if they need anything in the night. The baby might be crying strongly before you notice and this will mean that they are very distressed and will be much harder to settle. If you invest in a baby monitor you will be able to hear when they first start to stir and go and pick them up before they are crying too much.
Safety sockets to put in when you don't have any plugs in the sockets mean that the child can't poke things into the socket and potentially hurt themselves. You can also get covers for your DVD players to stop them playing with them and putting things on the tray when it comes out.
Baby Safety Equipment also includes cupboard and fridge locks. If you spend a lot of time in the kitchen but don't want your baby to keep getting things out of the fridge, or playing with your expensive plates and glass items which they can potentially break, you can put locks on the cupboards and fridge. This means you toddler can have some freedom in the kitchen but won't be able to hurt themselves or get into mischief.
